If only building a custom home could be like an episode of Modern Family with thirty minutes of ups and downs, sprinkled with a good dose of laughs and wrapping up nicely each week. The process may take a great deal longer but there really are a lot of ways building a custom home can feel like your own Modern Family episode.
Just like the Emmy winning Dunphys, emotions can run high with a lot of family stress, tears and meltdowns but, builder Bryan Edwards says, there are some proven ways to manage the drama of the building process.
“There are definitely highs and lows to the entire process. Sometimes, when the decisions come fast and furious, and, at times contradicting themselves, I literally look out to see if there is a television camera filming it!” Edwards said.
Here are Edwards ways to avoid the melodrama in building a home:
-Make Sure Your Script is Final Before Construction Begins – Get your home plan and price established in the beginning of the building process. This takes a great deal of frontend work, but Edwards says it will save 90% of the problems.
-Know Your Lines – Work hard to make sure all partners are on the same page. A good builder manages the project, performance of the suppliers and subcontractors and works consistently to meet a customer’s expectations for their home project.
-Respect The Director – Well, builders serve at the pleasure of the homeowner, but if we demonstrate our experience, expertise and skills, then we will be your leader and get you to the final product.
-Be Emmy Worthy – We operate like every project is award-winning for our clients. We see the big picture, know the road can be bumpy getting to the end, and make sure our homeowners enjoy their happily ever after.

“There is a little bit of drama but at the end, we are ready to pose for a cute family photo when the home we create for them is better than they possibly expected.”
